Many people believe that it is anti American to learn about the history of another country other then America if you live in America. However, in Latin American studies classes, many kids of color are getting better grades because they are becoming interested in their history but the states think that it’s unfair to the whites in the school. They believe that African Americans can learn about there cultures but Latin American should not have the opportunity to learn about where they came from. The school broad Member Micheal Hicks says that in these ethnic studies classes they teach them how to fight against the white man; that this is Latin American Land that the white man stole (The Daily Show, 2012). Micheal Hicks is making assumptions because he never sat in on one of the classes he thinks that is what’s being thought to them. The Law that was passed to band ethnic studies was targeted to Latin American Studies.

Latin American Studies had always caught my eyes because having many Latin American friends makes you want to learn more about them and where they are from. This is a good opportunity to learn more about what is happening around the world and get more education oh the history of Latin American. In Tucson , Arizona many people of color protested to defend Ethnic studies but they were shut down when the state of Tucson said that it is unconstitutional. (Griselda Nevarez 2017) Overall it can be really helpful to learn and know because if you want to travel you will know more about the place. The state of Arizona is 29 percent of Hispanics which makes the whites feel scared because of the increase of the Hispanics populations. The state is more so scared of if they learn about theirs past would they not listen and disrespect the white man in charge. Latin American studies should be taught because it gives people of color a chance to learn about their pass.
